What is new in DT6 Version 6?

Exciting New Version 6 DT6 Vibration & Phase Analyzer Features Explained:

We are very excited about the new DT6 version 6. Note that we no longer provide Fujitsu tablets and instead use the newest version of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet (128 Gb SSD, Intel i5 Processor, 4GB RAM), with many hardware/accessory upgrades available (Toughbook options are also available).  We have also added some incredible new features for both Basic and Pro versions. Here are just a few:

Individual Precision Frequency Calibration (IPFC) Sensors*

Our new generation of sensors each come with their own unique serial number and can be individually calibrated to ensure the most  accurate readings possible. The new generation of sensors known as the Model#STC3A01 will go through a unique calibration process to individually calibrate the sensors relative to a NIST certified sensor.  This will guarantee that each individual sensor will more tightly match the values of the NIST sensor, resulting in an extremely high level of precision at specific frequencies and amplitudes.  Each sensor  will include a signed and dated Unique Calibration Certificate that will demonstrate an unusually high level of accuracy throughout the usable frequency range as compared to typical accelerometers.

Live Orientation Correction (BASIC)

The Live orientation correction gives the user the ability to see the sensors orientation in 3 dimensional space on the shaft to know that they are aligning it exactly straight up. The user can rotate the sensor in 3 dimensions on the shaft and the GUI on the screen will show exact lines describing its exact orientation relative to the ground and what is EXACTLY straight up and horizontal with the length of the shaft. The process is incredibly quick and easy to use, but drastically increases the end results of each of the Vertical/Horizontal/Axial vibration amplitude measurements, improving Phase accuracy.

APA (BASIC)

This once Pro only feature is now included in the Basic version.  It includes various controls to view the end to end orbit traces of two shafts, leading to a much more clear and intuitive understanding of phase motions not only to analysts but for mechanics and managers as well. It has been referred to as a “poor man’s Operational Deflection Shape  animation (ODS)”, this valuable tool helps make use of the DT6’s powerful and unique phase analysis capabilities.

System Alarm Monitor (SAM) Module (PRO)

The DT6 becomes a portable, and temporary constant monitoring/alarm system. It can be left by a machine collecting data for as long as the user wishes*. Simply set your desired alarm bands and levels and hit start. Whenever the system measures a fault exceeding an alarm level, it saves the last 60 seconds and continues on. The data is saved into a .txt file so that it can be analyzed directly from the DT6 or in any other piece of software that the user desires (such as Matlab, Excel etc.). This is an excellent tool for detecting transient vibrations or catching those critical signs of failure before it’s too late. It also makes it a lot easier to notice irregularities in a system, because SAM will show you exactly when this fault occurred. Its power is not limited to a certain amount of time, and it will continue to run for as long as the user wants. Since the SAM will capture and store the data for any vibrations that set off alarms, it allows the user to gather an enormous amount of data and yet in the end perform analysis only on regions of “Failure”. For example, run SAM over a weekend and come back Monday morning, instead of looking through hours of data it is possible to immediately analyze only the data that triggered some sort of fault.

*as long as power is supplied and the battery is not allowed to drain out.

Live Data Mode (PRO)

See the real-time vibration data plotted in a LIVE screen, then easily clip and save segments of interest. The live mode gives the user the ability to see the data as it comes in, and can be used to perform simple bump tests, running soft foot tests, resonance checks, etc.  The system will also record all of the data that it sees, so if you are in the live mode for 120 seconds looking at the values as they come in, the system will now have a stored waveform of data equivalent to that amount of time. The user can then crop the region they want and analyze as normal. This mode can be useful in a number of ways. For example, it is a simple tool for mechanics and maintenance workers to double check their work. This helps to support precision maintenance practices as often people take much more care in assembly knowing that their results will be immediately assessed. It also enables management to reward precision results that would otherwise go unnoticed.

High Frequency Transducer (Sensor Add-on)

*Sensor is available from Update International for an additional fee*

The High Frequency sensor is a single channel, piezoelectric accelerometer that can integrate fully with the DT6 system with a simple USB interface. This sensor enables capturing a much higher frequency range than the regular tri-axial DT6 sensors. It also comes with a higher resolution and less noise. The device easily captures high resolution readings on vibrations over 8000 hertz.

ADC Bandwidth (-3dB): 0.155 Hz to 22 900 Hz

Frequency Range(±5%): 2 Hz to 8 000 Hz

Measurement Range:  1 Channel (A)  ± 20 g pk

Laser Tachometer (Sensor Add-on)

*Sensor is available from Update International for an additional fee*

The DT6 system now comes with the ability to incorporate a laser tachometer into the overall DT6 package. This laser tachometer is used to find the exact rotational speed of the shaft, and also used to create a much more accurate phase reference, with each of the Vertical/Horizontal/Axial measurements being referenced for phase from the laser tachometer. The laser Tachometer can be used with the new field balancing software module (as well as some additional modules related to resonance that are currently being developed).

Waterfall Plot (Pro)

The DT6 sensor now includes a waterfall plot that describes the trends of a channel over time. The waterfall plot has 3d navigation controls enabling the user to view them from any perspective or angle, improving it’s usefulness in identifying machine trends over time.

Orbit Analysis (PRO)

This plot lets the user to define the section of interest in the time waveform as well as the number of orbit traces overlaid on each other. Additional controls enable a variety of visualizations of the readings orbit traces which help the analyst understand actual shaft motion.
